Case Study— Study to promote energy efficient pumps in india
This issue focuses on pump sets, which together consume almost a fifth of India’s total electricity production. It outlines a study conducted by TERI with the support of Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation on promoting energy efficient pumps in India. It also presents a profile of Rajkot pump set cluster, including summaries of workshops under the TERI–SDC project and the SIDBI-supported Cluster Level Intervention Program (CLIP).
A PLATFORM FOR PROMOTING ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN SMEs

This issue carries a profile of the Jagadhri brass and aluminium cluster; a case study from Ankleshwar chemical cluster on replacement of inefficient manually controlled NG burner by energy efficient automatic burner in boiler; gist of the session on energy efficiency during the fifth ‘India-Japan Energy Forum’; and summary of the bankers’ training on energy efficiency finance for MSMEs coordinated by GIZ, SBI SIDBI, and Bank of India (BOI).
This issue carries a profile of the Ankleshwar chemical cluster. It also carries a case study from the Rajkot foundry cluster on the implementation of an energy efficient low carbon technology— gas heat pump— by an investment casting unit under a project funded by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), with TERI and Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), Japan as the research partners.
