Coimbatore pump set cluster (Tamil Nadu)
Introduction
Coimbatore, in Tamil Nadu, is an important industrial city with over 25,000 MSMEs and a number of medium and large industries. Coimbatore is one of the largest producers of pump sets for agricultural, industrial and domestic use, accounting for nearly 40% of all pump sets manufactured in India. There are around 600 pump manufacturing units and in and around Coimbatore. The units are located in areas such as Arasur, Annur, Avinashi Road, Ganapathy, Kanuvai, Manikkampalayam, Mettupalayam, Peelamedu and SIDCO Industrial Estate. Also, there are about 400 ancillary support units in Coimbatore, manufacturing components such as impellers, diffusers and shafts which are required by the pump set units. The pump set units provide direct employment to about 7000 people.
