Ranchi Refractory Industries (Jharkhand)

Introduction

The district of Ranchi is rich in minerals such as coal, lime stone, fireclay, china clay, granite, stone and sand. Ranchi district hosts about 10,500 industrial units of different types, including a cluster of 23 industrial units engaged in manufacturing refractory products. The refractory products find markets across the country. Most of the units use downdraft (DD) kilns for the firing of refractory products; a few units also use tunnel kilns for firing refractories. The average production capacity of DD kilns is about 150 tonnes per month (tpm), and of tunnel kilns, about 540 tpm.
