Bhavnagar (Sihor) steel re-rolling mill cluster

Introduction

An important steel re-rolling mill cluster is located in Sihor taluka of Bhavnagar district, Gujarat, alongside Asia’s largest ship-breaking yards at Alang and Sosiya. The ship-breaking industry has spurred the development of the steel re-rolling mills, as well as steel melting units. The raw material for the steel re-rolling units comes from the ship-breaking industries in the form of sheets, as well as from the steel melting units in the form of ingots and billets. There are about 120 re-rolling mills in the cluster, of which 90 are operational. Most of the units are located in GIDC (Sihor).
