Mohali engineering cluster (Punjab)

Introduction

Mohali, a satellite town of Chandigarh, is one of India’s prominent engineering clusters. It has around 4000 MSME units, out of which 900 are engineering units manufacturing tractor/auto parts, sheet metal components, forging and railway components, bathroom fittings, fasteners and so on. Many of the engineering units are ancillaries/vendors of large Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as Mahindra & Mahindra (earlier Punjab Tractors), Swaraj Enterprises, Sonalika Tractors, Preet Tractors and Combines, Indian Railways Rail Coach Factory (Kapurthala), and Diesel Loco Modernisation Works (Patiala).
