Jodhpur limestone cluster (Rajasthan)

Introduction

Jodhpur district, in Rajasthan, has a cluster of about 115 MSMEs engaged in the production of quicklime and slaked lime from limestone. The limestone is sourced from quarries lying in an 8–10 km radius. Most of the units are non-mechanized; the main equipment used is a kiln in which limestone is baked to yield quicklime. The units have production capacities of 3,000–15,000 tonnes per annum (tpa).
