Warangal rice mills cluster (Telangana)

Introduction

A large cluster of rice mills is located in the Warangal district of Telangana, which is renowned for paddy cultivation. The district has about 368 mills, of which around 110 are located in Warangal town. The mills procure paddy from different sources and process it into rice, which is then supplied to Food Corporation of India (FCI) and other marketing/distribution channels. Rice processing is seasonal, as it depends on paddy availability. The seasons are April–May (when paddy is fit for producing parboiled rice) and November–January (when paddy is fit for producing raw rice).
