Coimbatore compressor cluster (Tamil Nadu)

Introduction

The industrial city of Coimbatore is one of the largest producers of conventional reciprocating compressors in India, ranging in capacity from 0.75 H.P to 20 H.P. There are about 300 industrial units manufacturing reciprocating compressors (100 units) and allied components (200 units). Most of the small-scale units manufacture compressors of capacity 5 H.P or below, while the medium-scale units manufacture compressors of up to 20 H.P. capacity. The compressors manufactured in the cluster are used in bore well pumps, automobile garages, paint shops, railways, paper cup manufacturing machines, blow moulding machines, packaging units, dairy units, and several small industries.
