Rajkot Foundries (Gujarat)

Introduction
Rajkot district is one of the largest industrial hubs in India, with about 14,000 MSMEs including 5500 engineering units. Among them is a cluster of about 700 grey iron foundries, located in and around Rajkot city. Most of the foundries produce castings for OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) in diverse engineering sectors like automotive, pump sets, electric motors, air compressors, machine tools, agricultural machines, electrical transmission equipment, and so on. The production of castings in the cluster is estimated to be 1500 tonnes per day (about 0.46 million tonnes per annum). The cluster employs close to 30,000 direct employees.
