Alwar oil mills cluster (Rajasthan)

Introduction

Alwar town is located in the midst of a mustard-growing region, and has a cluster of oil mills that are spread across Alwar and Sawai Madhopur. There are around 30 oil mills in this cluster, engaged in extracting mustard oil from mustard seeds. Two kinds of mustard oil are produced: kacchi ghani, extracted by cold press (kolhu), and pakki ghani, extracted through expellers
